Senior Planner – Construction Fit-Out & Refurbishment

Location: London and the South East (Hybrid Role)

An established national construction and fit-out specialist is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join its growing team. Working across projects throughout the UK, you will provide a professional planning and programming service across both pre-construction and live project stages.

This business delivers high-quality fit-out, refurbishment, and asset improvement projects for a wide range of long-standing clients. The Role

As Senior Planner, you will support both the estimating and operational teams by developing and managing robust construction programmes. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are effectively planned, monitored, and delivered in line with agreed timelines.

The role requires strong commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of planning processes within a construction fit-out environment. Experience working with industry-standard contract forms and performance measurement techniques will also be essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed construction programmes and methodologies to support tender submissions.
• Work closely with estimating teams during the pre-construction phase to ensure programmes are realistic and deliverable.
• Monitor project progress, update programmes based on site feedback, and provide accurate progress reporting to stakeholders.
• Conduct critical path analysis and maintain programme integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure design, procurement, and construction activities are fully integrated within project schedules.
• Present programmes and methodologies at tender settlement meetings.
• Manage programme impacts related to scope changes, including advising on extension of time (EOT) implications.
• Develop and monitor performance measurement metrics such as KPIs and Earned Value Analysis.
• Identify potential delays, constraints, or risks early and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines.
• Support the preparation of time-related preliminaries through schedule development and analysis.

Experience & Skills

• Proven experience in a Planner or Senior Planner role within construction fit-out, refurbishment, or interiors projects.
• Strong understanding of construction planning processes and programme management.
• Knowledge of common construction contract forms.
• Experience with Critical Path Analysis, Earned Value Analysis, and KPI monitoring.
• Proficiency in Asta Powerproject is essential.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with estimating, design, and site delivery teams.
