Role: Senior Electrical Design Engineer - £55,000 - £65,000 + Benefits
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will be required to lead the design and implementation of low-carbon electrical systems across a variety of retrofit and energy efficiency projects. Working closely with junioir engineers, the role includes developing integrating low-carbon electrical systems such as solar PV, battery storage, LED lighting, and building power infrastructure.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to strengthen technical knowledge, enhance project delivery capabilities, and contribute to the UK’s net-zero and decarbonisation objectives through sustainable and innovative engineering practices.
Role/Responsibilities:
· Strong technical grounding in LV electrical design to integrate low-carbon energy solutions, such as power distribution, solar PV, battery storage, LED lighting, and smart controls for the integration of heat pumps, and other energy-efficiency measures typical of sustainable retrofit into commercial, public-sector and mixed-use buildings .
· Proven experience in solar PV design, including ground-mounted systems and building-integrated solutions (BIPV).
· Ability to integrate PV systems with electrical infrastructure and low-carbon technologies for retrofit and new-build projects.
· Sound understanding of mechanical building services to enable effective coordination.
· Competent in detailed design from RIBA Stage 2 to 5, including calculations, SLDs, schematics, schedules and technical reports.
· Proficient in AutoCAD and a good working knowledge of BIM workflows (Revit desirable).
· Ability to lead electrical design packages on multi-disciplinary projects.
The ideal candidate:
· 6 years+ experience in electrical building services design.
· Exposure to retrofit, decarbonisation, or low-carbon projects preferred.
· Strong presentation and communications skills, both verbal and written.
· Experience working across full RIBA stages on multidisciplinary teams
· Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (BEng or equivalent).
· Working knowledge of BIM and CAD software, ensuring seamless design coordination/ collaboration
· Working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with CIBSE or IMechE.
