Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - £55,000 - £65,000 + Package
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you`ll be responsible for the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects from concept through to construction. The role will involve a strong hands-on design element, with particular emphasis on undertaking detailed engineering calculations and developing detailed MEP designs across a range of projects.
You`ll also be heavily involved in client-facing activities and stakeholder engagement, working closely with clients, consultants and multidisciplinary project teams to understand requirements, develop solutions and ensure successful project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys both the technical and client-facing aspects of building services design and is looking to take on greater responsibility within a large, established organisation.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects.
- Undertake detailed mechanical engineering calculations to support project designs and engineering decisions.
- Develop detailed mechanical and MEP designs from concept through to detailed design and construction.
- Produce high-quality technical information, drawings, specifications and design documentation in line with project requirements and programmes.
- Develop practical, innovative and sustainable engineering solutions tailored to client requirements.
- Take a hands-on role in resolving technical design challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, sustainability and wider MEP requirements.
- Work closely with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide appropriate technical solutions.
- Attend and actively contribute to client meetings, design reviews and project discussions.
The Ideal Candidate
- 5+ years` experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer / Building Services Engineer.
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Strong hands-on mechanical design experience within the building services sector.
- Proven experience undertaking detailed engineering calculations and developing detailed MEP designs.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services systems and design principles.
- Experience working on commercial projects; experience across residential or mixed-use developments would also be beneficial.
- Strong client-facing experience, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
