Commercial Director (M&E)

We are representing one of the UK`s leading independent Building Services Contractors that specialise in several sectors including commercial, data centres, healthcare, education & more! With a traditional engineering mindset and reinvestment into new principals, the business has an annual turnover in excess of £250m+ and operate nationwide. A huge bulk of their turnover comes from repeat business which is a standard they maintain by ensuring high standards are upkept across the board.
As a result of winning multiple projects, they are actively looking to recruit A Commercial Director. This is a great opportunity to join their growing team in a senior management position; the projects are massive, work is being won and they’re growing at an amazing rate.
Role Overview:
This senior role will play a key part in shaping commercial strategy, managing risk and driving financial performance across complex, high-value engineering projects. The position offers significant influence at executive level and will suit a commercially astute progressional with experience operating within M&E Major projects ranging in value from £15m - £50m MEP (2-4 projects at any one time).
Key Responsibilities
· Provide strategic commercial leadership across mechanical and electrical project portfolios
· Shape and deliver commercial strategy aligned to business objectives and long term growth
· Lead contract strategy, negotiation and commercial governance across M&E workstreams
· Oversee commercial risk management, including change control, cost value reconciliation and entitlement management
· Drive financial performance across M&E projects through robust forecasting, margin protection and reporting
· Partner closely with operational and technical leadership to support effective project delivery
· Act as a trusted commercial advisor to the executive team on M&E-related commercial matters
· Provide senior commercial input at bid, pre-contract and procurement stages
· Lead, mentor and develop commercial teams operating across mechanical and electrical disciplines
· Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
Required Experience
· Proven experience in a senior commercial leadership role within M&E, engineering services, or a related project-led environment
· Strong working knowledge of M&E contracting models, commercial management and risk allocation
· Experienced in managing complex contracts and commercial structures across multi-discipline projects
· Comfortable operating at board and executive level, influencing strategic decisions
· Track record of developing and leading high-performing commercial teams
