The Opportunity
An established and highly regarded building services contractor is seeking to appoint a Mechanical Project Manager to deliver major commercial projects across London. The business operates at the top end of the market, working with Tier One main contractors on technically complex new build and fit out schemes.
This role is suited to a delivery-focused Mechanical Project Manager with strong commercial awareness and experience managing large-scale mechanical packages from pre-construction through to final handover.
The Role
Reporting to a Senior Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for the mechanical delivery of assigned projects, ensuring successful outcomes across programme, quality, safety and commercial performance.
Key responsibilities include:
• Managing the mechanical package from post-tender through procurement, delivery, commissioning, and handover
• Leading mechanical design development and coordination with consultants, client teams, and main contractors
• Procurement of major plant, specialist subcontractors, and long-lead mechanical equipment
• Developing and managing construction programmes using MS Project, Asta, or similar planning tools
• Managing site-based mechanical teams, supervisors, and subcontractors
• Commercial management including cost control, forecasting, reporting, and variation management
• Chairing internal and external progress meetings
• Managing commissioning activities and ensuring a structured and compliant handover process
• Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety, quality assurance, and project governance

About You
• Proven experience delivering large mechanical packages within commercial new build or fit out environments
• Strong technical understanding of HVAC, public health, and associated mechanical systems
• Commercially astute with experience managing project finances and reporting
• Confident communicator able to manage consultants, clients, and internal stakeholders
• Highly organised with a structured and proactive approach to delivery
Experience & Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Mechanical Project Manager role
• Experience managing mechanical packages valued at £5m+
• HNC / HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (preferred but not essential)
• Experience working with Tier One main contractors is advantageous
