Project Manager - Retail Fit Out

Location: East London

Rate: £400–£450 per day CIS

Contract: Long-Term Freelance

A leading contractor is seeking a commercially astute Project Manager to deliver fast-track retail fit-out and refurbishment projects within a live retail environment.

This is a high-profile, fast-paced setting where delivery standards are high, logistics are complex, and commercial control is critical to success. The successful candidate will be expected to take full ownership of delivery, driving both programme performance and profitability.

The Role

• You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of retail fit-out projects, managing programme, cost, quality, and stakeholder coordination in a live trading environment. Main contracting retail fit out experience a must.

Key Responsibilities

• Full project delivery from pre-construction through to handover
• Commercial ownership of budgets, costs, variations, and overall profitability
• Close management of QS functions, including CVRs, valuations, and final accounts
• Driving programme performance in a live retail environment
• Identifying, managing, and mitigating commercial and delivery risks
• Coordinating site teams, subcontractors, and specialist packages
• Chairing progress meetings and producing accurate reporting
• Ensuring strict health & safety compliance across all works
• Managing quality control, snagging, and handover processes

Requirements

• Proven Project Manager experience in retail fit-out/refurbishment
• Commercially astute with strong ownership of cost and margin
• Experience within live retail or shopping centre environments is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of variations, CVRs, and contractual delivery
• Ability to deliver in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid
