Mechanical Construction Manager

Project: £50m Shell & Core Commercial Development - Central London

Salary: £75,000 + package

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Construction Manager to join the delivery team on a major £50m shell and core commercial development in Central London.

This landmark project represents a technically demanding and highly coordinated MEP scheme at the heart of the capital. The successful candidate will take ownership of the mechanical delivery, leading installation, coordination, and commissioning activities to ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.

This role would suit an experienced construction manager with a proven record of delivering large-scale mechanical packages within Tier One or specialist contracting environments.

Key Responsibilities

·        Programme & Delivery

·        Take full ownership of the mechanical scope, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and programme milestones.

·        Develop and manage short-term lookaheads, ensuring clear communication of priorities to supervisors and subcontractors.

·        Monitor progress, resources, and sequencing to maintain delivery against plan.

·        Coordinate with other trades to manage interfaces and maintain programme momentum.

·        Quality & Technical Assurance

·        Lead the delivery of mechanical installations through to successful testing and commissioning.

·        Drive a right-first-time approach to quality and ensure all works meet project standards and client expectations.

·        Oversee material and plant control, avoiding waste and ensuring timely availability.

·        Maintain accurate records, redlines, and as-built documentation.

·        Health, Safety & Compliance

·        Champion a proactive health and safety culture across all site activities.

·        Ensure full compliance with RAMS, statutory requirements, and company procedures.

·        Conduct regular inspections, toolbox talks, and site audits

·        Work closely with the QHSE team to uphold industry-leading safety performance.

·        Team & Subcontractor Management

·        Lead and coordinate supervisors, operatives, and specialist subcontractors to achieve programme and quality objectives.

·        Support planning and coordination with electrical and building fabric trades.

·        Build strong working relationships with project stakeholders, including main contractor, consultants, and client representatives.

·        Mentor junior team members, promoting a collaborative and accountable site culture.

About You

·        We are looking for a confident, technically competent individual who brings:

·        Demonstrable experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager on major commercial or mixed-use projects.

·        Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems, plantrooms, risers, and commissioning.

·        Excellent planning, coordination, and leadership skills

·        A proactive, quality-focused approach to project delivery.

·        SMSTS, CSCS (Black Card), and a strong commitment to health, safety, and compliance.
