An opportunity within one of the UK's leading independent building services companies for a Health and Safety Manager has risen. The group specialises in several sectors including commercial, education, data centres, healthcare and residential. With a traditional engineering mindset and reinvestment into new principals, the business has an annual turnover in excess of £160M, operating nationwide.
The role will be mutiple project running within London with an average MEP project values of £30 million+. You will oversee the Health & Safety aspects of all projects on a daily basis and as such, be accountable to the directors for performance.Take responsibility for the establishment of targets and their achievement to ensure the company and client needs are exceeded at all times.
Roles & Responsibilites
- Develop and maintain H&S management system in line with HSG65.
- Develop, enhance and maintain a Health and Safety Culture for the business.
- Set standards and lead by example in the management of Health & Safety
- Completing robust, clearly defined Health and Safety site inspections with associated reports and recommendations to ensure client safety management is fit for purpose in line with business activities.
- Continual improvement to meet or exceed legislative requirements and protection of the health, safety and welfare of all staff and sub-contractors.
- Develop and Implement H&S policies and procedures.
- Delivering induction training to new starters
- Liaising with Principal contractors, Client and other Trades Contractors on site on Health and safety relating issues.
- Preparation and review of Method Statements, Risk Assessments
- Advise duties under CDM 2015 and ensuring their compliance.
- Generate quality driven client safety reports, risk and COSHH assessments.
- Attending and participating with client Health & Safety meetings to providing guidance and best practice on safety issues
- Carry out review, investigate and log accidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and any other incidents with reports and establish pointers for improvement.
- Notification of projects to the Health and Safety Executive where applicable
- Review design work to ensure avoidance /mitigation and the control of health and safety hazards.
- Preparation of Construction Phase Health and Safety Plans or Site Safety Packs a required
- Develop and deliver bespoke in-house training courses.
- Arrange external CITB / IOSH accredited courses for employees.
- Manage CSCS card applications.
- Increase employee contribution and productivity through consultations and quality awareness.
- Manage toolbox talks.
