A rapidly growing specialist contractor is looking to appoint an Estimator to join their pre-construction team.

The business operates across the UK and Europe, delivering specialist packages to some of the construction industry`s leading main contractors on major commercial, infrastructure, data centre and complex construction projects.

The Estimator will report directly into the Pre-Construction Director and will play an important role in pricing and securing work across both the UK and European markets.

The Role

Working closely with the Pre-Construction Director and wider commercial team, you will be responsible for managing tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and handover.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications and scopes of work
• Preparing detailed and commercially robust estimates
• Producing accurate take-offs and pricing
• Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Identifying project risks, exclusions and commercial opportunities
• Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, clients and internal teams throughout the tender process
• Developing competitive tender submissions
• Supporting value engineering and alternative proposals
• Working closely with the operational team to ensure tenders are commercially viable and deliverable
• Assisting with the handover of successful projects to the delivery team
• Pricing opportunities across both UK and European projects

About You

The business is open to Estimators from a range of construction backgrounds, particularly those who have experience working for a specialist contractor, subcontractor or trade contractor.

Relevant backgrounds could include:

• Construction logistics
• Fit-out and interiors
• Enabling works
• Temporary works
• Groundworks
• Labour-intensive packages
• Specialist subcontracting

Candidates with strong estimating experience in another construction environment will also be considered.

The key requirement is a strong understanding of the construction tendering process, good commercial awareness and the ability to produce accurate, competitive estimates.

This could suit an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator, as well as an Assistant Estimator looking to take the next step in their career.
