The Client 

My client is an medium sized M&E contractor that has been operating for 40 years. They are often considered to have one the best MEP products in London. Typically, they will undertake heavy engineering project in sectors such as Commercial Offices, Healthcare and Education. Currently the business turns over circa £50m. With a traditional engineering mindset and reinvestment into new principals, the business expects 2025 to be a period of sustained growth. Following the recent appointment on two highlight projects, they are currently looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to bolster their design team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for medium to large scale projects and individual engineering task(s) for numerous schemes for client’s cross sector. This will include the creation, development of and finalising engineering design solutions of electrical services elements, working with other team members and project teams together with direct liaison with the client and other design team professionals.

The candidate shall have experience across the breadth of electrical building services such as:

• HV and LV
• Lighting
• Central Control/Building Management
• Complete survey work and site inspections
• Undertaken design calculations using various methods, from hand calculations to software-based modelling.
• Prepare drawn information.
• Write technical specifications and technical reports.
• Identify and resolve problems early.
• Exhibit active project risk management.
• Peer review and check design information prepared by others.
• Represent K&M at meetings
• Maintain records and archives to company standards.
• Manage their own workload to meet defined targets and deadlines.
• Manage client relationships on specific projects.

The ideal candidate

• Comfortable taking ownership of a project design without being told what to do
• Experience taking designs from stage 3
• Be within commuting distance of South London
• A willingness to develop their career and to strive towards promotion
• A minimum 3 years’ experience in a Electrical Engineer’s role
